20th Annual Pro-Am at Royal Aberdeen on Friday 27 July

By: Golf Shake | Tue 24 Apr 2012

LIMITED TEAMS AVAILABLE FOR THE 20TH GRAMPIAN HOUSTON JUNIOR GOLF ANNUAL PRO-AM TOURNAMENT

Grampian Houston Junior Golf is calling for entries from companies to take part in its 20th annual Pro-Am at Royal Aberdeen on Friday 27 July, followed by a celebration dinner at the Marcliffe Hotel in Aberdeen.

Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the Pro-Am tournament, which is set to be the biggest event in the organisation’s history, raises money to take 12 young talented golfers to Houston, Texas every two years for a 10-day trip playing golf at outstanding US courses.

Attracting a number of business teams from across the north-east, Houston and Dubai, the deadline for entries is May 4 and anyone with a keen interest in golf is encouraged to participate.

Sponsored by Munro’s Travel Group, the trip is organised by the Grampian Houston Junior Golf Committee and is aimed at giving young golfers an opportunity to play in the United States and an opportunity to sample college golf. As a result of the previous biennial trips the committee has secured more than 30 golf scholarships for junior golfers, making it the most successful programme of its type in the country.

Grampian Houston Junior Golf chairman, John Connon, said: “Celebrating our 20th anniversary, we expect this year’s Pro-Am to be the biggest in our history. We encourage any keen golfers to support the event and enter a team for the tournament.”

The programme, which has seen more than 120 of the north of Scotland’s most talented golfers make a similar trip, is a non-profit making organisation.
