3ts Charity Event - Wales Wins International Final at La Cala
The 3ts Charity stands for “turning the tide on suicide” especially among young males. Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley and Darren Clarke are among its many supporters.
Each year, the charity holds the 3ts Challenge Golf challenge to help create awareness across more than 1000 golf clubs in Ireland. Each club hosts a competition to select their best male and female players. These two along with their captain and golf professional make up the club team of four players to play in regional qualifiers during the summer. Twelve clubs competed in the national final which was held at the K Club, venue of the 2006 Ryder Cup.
Killerig G.C. from Carlow led by Orla O hEocha emerged as winners to represent Ireland in the International Final at La Cala, Spain’s biggest golf resort. A team from Wales provided the opposition under blue skies and bright sunshine on Campo Asia in early November.
Event Organizer, Jo McAvin and the head of the Irish PGA, Michael McCumiskey did not need to make any rulings during the final as all involved agreed that the overall winner was the 3ts charity. Visit www.3ts.ie for further information
