Letham Grange Golf Club
The Old Golf Course was designed by Donald Steel and opened by the esteemed figure of Sir Henry Cotton in 1987.
Teeing off in front of the Mansion House, the course quickly incorporates narrow tree lined holes and open, rolling, and undulating fairways.
A constant, yet never exaggerated feature is the intelligent use of water that influences 13 of the 18 holes. The 8th, and 10th, holes are truly memorable – the par 3, 8th, is played over a picturesque loch, onto a green surrounded by mature trees and rhododendrons. Possibly the most spectacular hole on the course is the 10th, again over water for the second shot. This hole offers a challenge to the most experienced golfers.
The Glens Golf Course. Opened in 1991 the Glens Course is full of Scottish character and provides quality golf in delightful surroundings.
Where as the Old Course is magnificent and challenges even the best golfers, the Glens Course, whilst no walk-over, offers a more relaxing round, with just a little sting in the tail to help keep you focused.
Thoughtfully landscaped and with views of the Angus Glens in the distance the course is a joy to play. The first 14 holes are fairly straightforward with the closing stretch being a little more demanding by taking you through some wonderful woodland with narrow tree lined fairways.
For those of you who are familier with the Old Course, you'll be pleased that the Glens Golf Course is without water hazards!Get in the Swing at Letham Grange

With the season set to get into full swing, golfers are being given the chance to enjoy a weekend break at one of Scotland’s most up-and-coming resorts at some unbeatable prices.
Letham Grange Hotel, Golf & Country Estat e, which has undergone an extensive upgrade of its facilities on and off the course during the winter, is celebrating the start of the 2010 campaign by offering some amazing deals for one and two-night breaks in April.
Golfers can enjoy a one-night stay at the 36-hole resort near Arbroath including two rounds of golf, dinner, bed and breakfast and a carvery Sunday lunch for just £119 per person and the same deal for two nights’ accommodation for £189 per person.
Jamie Le Friec, general manager at Letham Grange, said: “We are determined to tell everyone about the great courses we have here and also the standards of service we offer. We believe we offer great value for money at a location that is as beautiful as anywhere in Scotland.”
Originally an early Victorian mansion house, Letham Grange was converted into a golf resort at the start of the 1990s and the 300-acre parkland estate boasts two 18-hole courses - the Old Course and Glens.
The 6,632-yard Old Course, designed by Donald Steel in 1987, has been referred to as ‘the Augusta of the North’, features water on 13 of the 18 holes and includes its very own ‘Amen Corner’ around the turn.
The Glens Course opened four years later and while, at 5,276 yards, the par-65 lay-out is not as tough or punishing as its older brother, it offers its own series of challenges including the testing final four holes.
Letham Grange has been undergoing an extensive £300,000 modernisation program since the end of last year as part of a major upgrade of its facilities.
The new Grange Brasserie and Bar offers a choice of a la carte, two or three-course menus with sweeping views of the estate while all 19 bedrooms are to refurbished.
In addition, the golf shop has been completely revamped for the 2010 season and the 19th Hole Golfers’ Bar and Patio will re-open at the start of next month (April).
On the course, money is being spent on irrigation, tree surgery and improving the bunkering while further expenditure is planned in the coming months to introduce a new fleet of grass-cutting equipment for the greenkeeping staff.
Letham Grange also recently exhibited with huge success at the Aberdeen Golf & Leisure Show while its new interactive website gives visitors the chance to check room availability and book online, as well as discover what else the resort can cater for including weddings, meetings, conferences, parties and entertainment.
