10 Reasons to Stay and Play at the Vale Resort

By: Alex Picken | Fri 20 Oct 2017

The Vale Resort is a 4-star resort located in South Wales. The complex is a luxurious resort that specialises in the most prestigious facilities dedicated to high quality sporting performances. The hotel facilities combine with this to provide a resort that is dedicated to the highest standards in fine dining and comfortable accommodation, along with an exciting and entertaining golfing experience.

The Vale Resort

Here are 10 reasons why you should stay and play at this fabulous resort:

1. More Than Just Golf

The Vale Resort as a whole is a facility that simply screams “golf break”. The hotel accommodation and dining facilities provides both luxury and simplicity for any travelling golfers needs. Combine this with two high quality and interesting golf courses and this really becomes a golfing destination and resort of the highest orderRead our full stay and play feature here.

2. The Wales National Golf Course

The Wales National Golf Course – a reason to stay and play on its own. The course is a long and precise parkland course, challenging every aspect of a golfer’s ability. Throughout the course a wilderness of trees, deathly sand traps and watery graves surround all 18 holes, providing a fair but tough test of golf, along with a picturesque golf course to remember.

3. Hole No.2, Wales National Course

This was easily one of the most inventive and challenging Par 5’s I have ever played. The first glance from the tee box highlights the difficulty that you immediately face. In similar fashion to placing a strand of thread through the eye of a needle, you must attempt to navigate your drive straight down the middle of the tight fairway without hitting the line of trees both left and right. If you do manage to achieve this feet, the holes difficulty does not give in, the second and third shots have little room for error also, with a mixture of bunkers and water awaiting near the green. All in all, this is a golf hole that is the signature of the course and one you will remember when you next come up against a beastly Par 5.

4. Hole No.12, Lake Course

This is the Lake courses’ hidden gem. From reading the scorecard, a 316-yard, Par 4 doesn’t typically stand out as anything spectacular, but standing over your second shot you will immediately appreciate how incredible this short hole is. After an initially treacherous tee shot aiming for a tight fairway, your second shot into this hole offers a variety of deadly possibility and outcomes. The small green that is surrounded by bunkers and water is both incredibly intimidating and beautiful to look at, a picturesque setting that will stay with you as a memory and symbol of the Lake Course.

5. The Setting and Location

One outstanding factor that promotes the golfing resort is the beautiful tranquil setting it resides in. After turning off the motorway, a collection of country roads will take you towards the majestic setting of the resort itself, standing loud and proud submerged subtly into the beautiful background of the Welsh countryside. Driving down the road towards the resort itself is certainly a picture you will take home with you after your stay.

6. Spa and Leisure Facilities

After a frustrating day of lost balls and wild tee shots golfing (typically the case when I step onto a golf course), a luxurious spa and pool area is the perfect antidote to cure your stresses. The Vale resort has this covered on all bases. The Vale is host to the largest spa in Wales, facilities include a sauna, steam room and whirlpool bath along with a 20m indoor swimming pool. The relaxing setting of the spa is a facility that must be used when visiting the resort.

7. Top Class Dinning Experience

A key factor with any stay and play golf course is the standard of the dining experience during your stay. The Vale prides itself on this dining experience and it certainly does not disappoint. The variation of food at the resort its perfect for all visitors. The clubhouse provides a fantastic menu for the typical everyday golfer wanting a quick bite to eat after their round. Alternatively, the Vale Grill provides a slightly more stylish restaurant setting, combined with an extravagant menu and a friendly service, providing a memorable dining experience for all its customers. Not to mention, the chips that are served at the Vale Grill will no doubt be a strong competitor to the best you have ever tasted.

8. Venue Accessibility

The accessibility of the golf resort is also a real standout factor to visit the Vale. A simple turn off from Junction 34 of the M4 and you are only a few moments away from approaching the Vale Resort gates, a relatively easy run for anyone travelling from Great Britain. Even for travellers coming from further afield, Cardiff international airport is just 20 minutes away from the resort, and for even more luxurious travellers, helicopter landing can also be arranged. For a resort that is tucked away in the Welsh countryside, the accessibility provided is a real positive factor for the resort.

9. Accommodation

The accommodation of your stay is always one of the most important factors on any golf trip, and the Vale resort kept up their high standards in this department also. The rooms were particularly spacious, with all the expected amenities and more provided in luxurious fashion. The bathrooms in all the rooms have recently been renovated, so take full advantage of having a powerful shower (a nice change to the standard, awful showers you get in most hotels) and the huge and elegant bath tub. A unique factor for many of the rooms is the balconies that extend off the room itself, providing you with a beautiful seating area perfect for sitting back and relaxing, contemplating the golfing details of the day and preparing yourself for tomorrows round. (A nice cold beer is a perfect addition to the situation, which comes highly recommended)

10. Perfect Venue to Unwind

In my opinion I found the resort to be incredibly luxurious and stylish, whilst simultaneously coming across very family friendly. Whether it was kids with their parents going to use the swimming pool facilities, or fathers and sons lined up on the driving range early in the morning receiving coaching and practicing hard, the presence of children and their families is something that is very heart-warming to see, and perfect for any families who are planning on going to the Vale Resort.
