Nestled in the beautiful Wharfe Valley with the famous Moor as a backdrop, Ilkley is one of the most picturesque golf clubs in the north of England. The 6,262 yard course is a great deal more difficult than it might first appear with the River Wharfe acting as an ever-present threat for the first seven holes of this tree-lined course. Ryder Cup legend Colin Montgomerie learnt his golf here and the club also boasts Mark James as an honorary life member. His highlight of the course is the par 3 15th, of which he says: "it is only an 8 or 9 iron in but the sloping green can look tiny in the normal left to right wind."

Conversely, the Pine Valley has been cleverly designed allowing to try out different approaches, thus is much more forgiving especially for higher handicappers.
